About Dartmoor Outdoor Company

Dartmoor Outdoor Company specialises in running personal development and instructor training courses for adults. Our team has a strong combination of technical expertise, teaching skills, group work and development skills stretching back over 15 years.

We are passionate about our wild environments and hold a strong belief that outdoor skills should be learnt and pursued in the real outdoors, in genuinely challenging and wild environments. Which is why we teach in as wide a range of contexts as possible and travel across Britain and to Spain to give students a depth of experience.

We work hard to maintain Dartmoor Outdoor Company's intimate and personal atmosphere ensuring that students on all courses have dedicated one to one time with our staff team.

Dartmoor Outdoor Company encourages and supports all students to fulfill their potential by extending their skills and their understanding of the outdoors. Our coaches will help to motivate students by recognising each has their own strengths, qualities, fears and limitations.


Paul
is a British Canoe Union canoe and kayak coach, is qualified under the Mountain Leader Training Board to coach climbing and and mountain leadership has worked in the outdoor education business for 15 years; has over 10 years experience of teaching outdoor instructors with a particular focus on improving their professional qualifications. Paul has coached instructors through SPA and Mountain Leader awards. He has coached instructors up to 5 star in the BCU performance awards and Level 4 coaching awards for kayak and canoe. Paul has kayaked rivers across Britain, Italy and Austria. He has wide range of experience working with adults, youth and corporate groups. Paul was a Royal Marine from 1983 to 1992. where he trained as a ski and arctic survival instructor.

Kate
is a British Canoe Union canoe and kayak coach, is qualified under the Mountain Leader Training Board to coach climbing and and mountain leadership. has worked as an outdoor educator over the last 10 years in Australia, Devon and Cornwall, and taught adults in the outdoors over the last 5 years has 15 years experience working in personal development and group work was awarded a Churchill Fellowship to research the use of outdoor education and wilderness experiences with youth at risk Australia in 2000 she has extensive experience of working with people with disabilities in outdoor education. Kate has a background in Psychology she also has extensive life coaching experience working with proffessional people and more vulnerable people.

Dartmoor Outdoor Company also runs Tree Surfers and Canoe Tamar. These are activity companies for families, groups, kids and adults who want to dip into the outdoors and have a lot of fun doing so!
